St.Lambert, September 9th 2017,

PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Death of Mr. Paul Tex Lecor (June 10, 1933- September 9, 2017)

It is with a heavy heart that Multi Art Ltd. and le Balcon d’art are announcing the passing of Mr. Paul Tex Lecor, a well-known painter, entertainer, comedian and singer.

This monument of the Quebec art world passed away peacefully surrounded by his family this morning, Saturday September 9, 2017. He was 84 years old.

During a career spanning almost sixty years, Tex imagined his reality with his feet firmly laid on the rock and created a vast body of work.

A free man, Tex listened and understood the people and the country, and gave a voice to those with no voice , to trees and birds.

The family asks that everyone respect their privacy at this difficult time and will announce the details of the tributes to come at a later date.

More details will follow in the hours and days to come but messages of condolence and the testimonials of his admirers can be sent to the Facebook page of the gallery le Balcon d’art or by mail at the adress below.

Le Balcon d’art’s family loses one of its most illustrious members. Indeed, Paul Lecor, Tex for his friends, admirers and for all of Quebec left us at the venerable age of 84 years.

He has joined the Suzor-Côtés, the Marc-Aurèle Fortins, the Cornelius Krieghoffs, the Léo Ayottes – his great friend – and the other giants of painting in Quebec.

His contribution to the world and the art market of the last five decades is immense; almost incalculable. His influence will be felt as long as we paint in Quebec and his jovial personality, his legendary humor will have marked generations who regard him as a friend; a brother.

We were fortunate and privileged to present an exhibition of the works of this giant just a few months ago. He had lost none of his talent and verve, and none of us thought that this was the last exhibition he would hold during his lifetime.

The success of our gallery for more than thirty years and the success of the Multi Art agency are forever closely linked to the career of a few flagship artists who have trusted us from the beginning. Tex is one of those faithful. We like to believe that the success of these artists is somewhat related to the work we have been doing for all these years.

Tex will be missed and we are sure you will miss him. We have, in our hearts, great memories and will always be happy to share these with the friends and admirers of the great artist who has just left us.

Salut le frère!
