Catherine Lavoie is a young contemporary painter. She got her DEC in visual arts in 2014. She is currently studying visual arts at UQAM to finalize her BAC. A full time painter, Catherine Lavoie creates her own company in 2016 to manage her art. She is now represented by le Balcon d’art.

She has participated in more than 20 exhibitions and events throughout Quebec.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Everything starts in my mind, I feel it before starting a canvas. Ideas take place. No matter what colors I use, I create a universe and a harmony between them. I am also inspired by everything that surrounds me, all topics interest me and I leave my mind open to a wide range of topics.

My work is inspired by my emotions, sensations and explorations. Each movement generates new ideas. By the way I feel, I when my work is finished, I still have this sensation of the final and the last brushstroke, I cannot yet explain it. I create figurative works, representative and abstract, I give free rein to my inspiration.

Everything is creation. Depending on the day, I use the colors that suit me. The important thing is the wondering; the evolution of spontaneity, colors, movement, experiences, matter and emotion. I use my great energy to offer unique works, in my image.
