Michel Beauchamp obtained a First Prize at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Montréal in the class of Jean Vallières.  He completed a post graduate degree in counterpoint, harmony and

fugue under the guidance of Jacques Faubert.  M. Beauchamp perfected his skills at home in Québec  and in Spain with  great  masters of the guitar, Manuel Barrueco, Alvaro Pierri and David Russell.

At the start of his career, Michel Beauchamp explored chamber music and in particular with violinist Johanne Morin, harpsichordist Yves-G. Préfontaine and soprano Adrienne Savoie with whom he recorded his first release on ATMA label in 2001.  Thereafter, he took an interest in flamenco which he added to his professional repertoire.

In 2004, Michel Beauchamp was invited by La Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur to present the complete works of Francisco Tárrega. Thus began a long period of intense research which led him to Spain.  He recorded the complete works for guitar of Tárrega in 2009 on the label XXI-21 (XXI-CD 2 1666) and supervised their publishing for Productions d’OZ (DZ 1180). In 2011, Michel Beauchamp recorded  Bach’s complete works for lute on his 7 strings guitar on label XXI-and supervised their publishing for Productions d’OZ.
