About the artist
Jean-Louis Courteau was born in 1959 in Montreal, Quebec, in the coldest month of the year. I believe my first cry was one of outrage and frustration at winter!
And yet, i now live in the Laurentians, farther north still!
But if these mountains and forests are at times the Kingdom of Frost, and other times mosquito-infested jungles; they remain my Middle Earth, my Shire, filled with the wild beauty of undergrowth and hidden lakes, inspiration for words and images.
And when the Gods are good to me, i fly back to my other inspirations: the sun, warmth, extraordinary people and mostly……..the Big Blue.
