He was born on May 20, 1901 in Épernay. Jean Archimbaud was fascinated from an early age by the many landscapes and monuments offered by this region. At the age of 12, seeing the drawing skills that his pupil possessed, his school principal suggested that he be admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Nancy. At the start of the First World War he moved with his family to take refuge in Haute-Marne at Chaumont. After learning to draw on his own, he became a pupil of Henry Gazan. He will live in Jœuf and Moyeuvre-Grande, employed as an industrial designer. In 1940, he took refuge in Puy-de-Dôme, then in 1960, he emigrated to Canada where he died in 1976.
