Born in Bulgaria in 1958, Steven Lamb studies graphic arts and engraving at the Sofia Academy of Fine Arts, right after high school and a mandatory two year military service.
He then studies painting and graphic design in Leipzig, in the old Eastern Germany.
He then works as an independent artist and has his first show in Sofia in 1986 and a three city show in Easter Germany. This leads to an invitation to show his work in Cuba.
On a layover in Newfoundland, he gets off the plane and seeks asylum in Canada.
He lives and works in Newfoundland for a while but soon moves to Montreal.
His work is close to grotesque but always keeps a touching human side, vying to be a commentary on class and the masses.
