Biography

Josée Lord was born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec in 1964

Self-taught, Josée Lord has been painting since she was very young. Warm tones give the precise shape of the still life that she creates so well.  Lord says that she needs direct contact with the material that she likes to touch the painting to breathe life into it.

Lord’s success is based on the passion she communicates with her brush. Her mind captures texture and form, stores patterns on matter, and is particularly touched by the uneven nature of forms. She is very familiar with objects and hand-made things, which are visually interesting. She starts working by making a sketch on the canvas, then she gives free rein to her imagination. Freedom allows Lord to exteriorize her emotions. Her still lives are marked by a singular style, a radiant declination of warm colors or bursting reds, opaque blues.

Her treatment of Expressionist colors is enhanced by gestures of great craftsmanship. In this way, her subjects, her flowers spread shivers of beautiful colors, as if their creator had given them distinct personalities, to be better deciphered. The work of the talented Josée Lord can be found in many collections of private art and companies around the world.
