About the artist


Originally from Quebec City, Yvon Lemieux was born in 1949. Self-taught, he has been painting since his late teens, for more than 50 years. Nicknamed “the painter with the hat”, Lemieux travels the streets of Old Quebec and the banks of the Saint-Laurent with his easel to capture the most beautiful landscapes of Charlevoix, Île d’Orléans and Côte-de-Beaupré. .

In 2005, he created a superb mural in the heart of St-Adèle representing the origin of the city. In 2006, he was invited by the CIBC Wood Gundy to the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec for a demonstration as part of a tribute to the painter Clarence A. Gagnon. In 2012, he received the Excellence Award from the City of Beauport for all of his work. In 2010, Télé sans frontières produced a documentary about his childhood and his career, which was presented at the Cannes Film Festival.

During his long career, Yvon Lemieux participated in numerous symposiums and painting exhibitions.
