Jocelyne La Pointe was born in Montreal in 1947. She studied art history, and is a self-taught painter. She founded L’Atelier Raphaël, a painting studio where she creates and exhibits her works and teaches art classes. In 1992, she received an honourable mention from the National Arts Council for her work. Following this honour, she was inspired to explore her pictorial imagery. After she had painted still lifes, landscapes and interior scenes on traditional canvas, she began painting on three-dimensional surfaces. She was inspired to make a gift for a friend’s child, and her first painted piggy bank was created.
These unique works of art have made their way around the world, and are found in Asia, Europe and North America.
