Born in France, L\u00e9a Rivi\u00e8re came to Canada in 1990. She started to paint at a young age with her uncle who taught her the basis of her trade. Her training at l\u2019\u00c9cole des Beaux-Arts in Geneva gave her a deep understanding of abstraction and technique. L\u00e9a\u2019s painting focuses on the female form and the horse; an inspiration dating back to her youth, when she worked in an equestrian centre. While not a rider herself, she is fascinated by the intimate relationship between the rider and the horse. Years of teaching and long hours of observation and practice over the years gave her a vast knowledge of anatomy and movement clearly discernible in her precise style of drawing.<\/p>\n

Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in North America, Europe and North Africa. For numerous years, her work could be seen in the d’Avignon gallery and St-Dizier gallery. The Art historian and Pascin specialist Rosemarie Napolitano, is her agent in France. Her work can currently be found at her studio, at the Thompson-Landry Gallery in Toronto, the Richelieu Art Gallery in Montr\u00e9al and under Cavalia\u2019s big top, which allows her paintings to travel the world.<\/p>\n
